Calle Santo Tomé

Alcázar - Museo del Ejército
Toledo's imposing hilltop fortress had been built and used by different peoples who conquered the city.  The site had undergone several destructions and reconstructions that it is hardly possible to see any remains of the original structure.  The Alcázar now houses a library and the Military Museum as well as a great location to get a panoramic view of the city.

Sinagoga de Santa María la Blanca
This exquisite building was intended as Toledo's main synagogue in 1180, but it was converted into a Catholic Church under the imfluence of St.Vicente Ferrer.  The synagogue was abandoned during the national disturbances, but has now been restored to its former grandeur.

Puerta del Sol
Although originally built at the end of the 10th or the beginning of the 11th century, much of what visitors can see today dates from the 14th century.  Previously known as the gateway of Herrería and San Ildefonso, the Puerta del Sol's Moorish-style stone and brick archways were once the principal gateway into the ancient city of Toledo.

Museo de Santa Cruz
This modern-day museum of art and sculpture was once a 16th century Renaissance hospice.  The facade manifests a gorgeous exterior with a striking Plateresque style.  The museum houses some of El Grecos' most famous works including "The Assumption of the Virgin".  Other exhibits include paintings by Goya and Ribera and ancient artifacts from different eras of the city.
